Super Draw 6 video poker gives you something that you can probably figure out
by just reading the name. You can get a sixth card on the draw, meaning that
there are some extra possibilities on the pay table for you to collect your
winnings. Of course, you’ll need to make an extra bet to activate this feature,
meaning that you’ll have to decide if it is worth it to go for these lucrative
six-card hands.

Video poker,
at its most basic level, is a simulation of the card game known as five card
draw poker. You get five cards on the deal, then you have one chance to improve
your hand on the draw by replacing your cards with others from the deck. If you
can make a winning hand, you’ll get money back from your original wager.

The most common form of video poker, Jacks or Better, pretty much follows
this script to the letter. But many people like to play the game with an extra
twist that livens up gameplay. These twists can often open up payments that are
significantly higher than you would receive on a Jacks or Better pay table.

You can count Super Draw 6 video poker as one of the video poker variations
that add an extra twist. First of all, it is a multiple-hand game in casinos and
online. That means that you’ll be playing three, five, or ten hands at a time,
all from a single original deal.

But the real twist in Super Draw 6 video poker comes if you make a bet that
is double the original maximum wager, which works out to ten credits per hand
instead of five. If you do, you’ll get a sixth card on the draw for each hand
that you’re playing. That means that you’re increasing the possibility of making
the winning hands on a typical pay table.

On top of that, the sixth card can create hands that wouldn’t otherwise be
possible with just five cards on your deal. These hands are added to the pay
table and really pay off lucratively compared to the wager. People who want to
score quickly playing video poker can really find a favorite in Super Draw 6
video poker.

The only problem is the size of the bet that you have to make to activate the
extra feature on Super Draw 6 video poker. By playing ten coins a hand, your
bankroll can really take a hit if you go several losing hands in a row. It is
not a game that you can really afford to play with a small bankroll.

In the following article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about
Super Draw 6 video poker. We’ll teach you to play basic video poker and explain
multiple play and the twist with the sixth card added. After that, we’ll talk
about pay tables, payback percentages, and strategy for this fascinating video
poker game.

Learning Basic Video Poker

Before you can really get a grasp on Super Draw 6 video poker, you should
first learn video poker in its regular form. That won’t take you long if you
have a little bit of a background in five card draw as a card game. Even if you
don’t, the game is simple enough that you can learn it pretty quickly.

Its simplicity is one of the many reasons that people love video poker,
whether they’re playing online or doing so at an actual casino. Another is the
fact that, like slot machines, you are only playing against the machine. You
don’t have to worry about the variables of other players and you don’t have to
deal with casino employees judging your every move.

But video poker makes for an even better experience than slot machines. Slot
machines give you no indication of how often you might come up with a winning
spin. Nor do they allow you to play with any sort of strategy.

Video poker puts strategy in play every time you have to make a decision
about what cards to hold and what to discard. And the probabilities of making
winning hands are determined by a 52-card deck and are unchanging. When you
combine those probabilities with the pay tables given to you by the machine, you
can actually tell how much the machine could be expected to give you back on
average over a long period of time.

Again, that’s not possible with slot machines. Video poker also features a
payback percentage for most of its games that are higher than the most
player-friendly slot machines. Those payback percentages can compare to the best
table games in the casino.

Video poker is a game you should consider learning if you haven’t already.
And the promise of new and exciting variations like Super Draw 6 video poker
showing up mean that you’ll never get bored with the same old action. But first,
you have to learn how to play.

With that in mind, here is a step-by-step tutorial of basic video poker. When
that’s complete, we’ll explain Super Draw 6 video poker and its thrilling
special feature.

Step 1: Put Money Into the Machine

There will be a slot on the bottom part of each video poker machine in the
casino where you can insert cash or a redemption ticket. If you are playing the
game online, you’ll need to create an account with the site you’ve chosen.
You’ll also have to fund the account with a credit card or some other method of
funding as your bankroll.

You’ll notice that your cash will be turned into credits or coins on the
machine display. Each credit will be equal to the amount of the machine’s
denomination. Some machines come with the denomination like a nickel or a
quarter already determined, while others let you choose the denomination.

The amount of credits that you have will be equal to the cash you’ve inserted
divided by the denomination. In other words, $10 in a 25-cent machine will give
you 40 credits, since 10 divided by .25 equals 40. Keep in mind that once you
play video poker, you can usually burn through several hands a minute, so adjust
your bankroll accordingly if you want to play for a long time.

Step 2: Make a Bet

In basic video poker, you will be choosing between one and five credits per
hand for your bet. As we’ll see in a bit, Super Draw 6 video poker gives you the
chance to bet 10 credits per hand so that you can play with the sixth card
feature. If you choose to bet one through five, though, you can play the game as
normal without the extra feature.

As you’ll find out, your highest payback percentage on Super Draw 6 video
poker comes when you bet the ten coins. If you don’t want to do that, we
recommend that you at least bet five coins. Five coins will give you the best
payout on the royal flush hand, whereas your ratio for the hand when playing one
through four coins drops significantly.

Step 3: Play Your Hand

For now, let’s just assume that you didn’t make the extra bet for the sixth
card feature in Super Draw 6 video poker, so you can learn the basic game. Once
you make your bet, five cards will appear on the screen. These are the cards
that you’ll try to turn into the best possible hand that you can manage.

Depending on what pay table you are playing, there might be the ability to
make different winning hands from the basic group. But for most versions of
video poker, here are the hands that you’ll be seeking to make with the five
cards in your hand:

  • Pair of jacks or better
  • Two pair
  • Three of a kind
  • Straight (five cards of consecutive rank like 3-4-5-6-7)
  • Flush (five cards of the same suit)
  • Full house (three of a kind and two pair in the same hand)
  • Four of a kind
  • Straight flush (straight with five cards of the same suit)
  • Royal flush (ten, jack, queen, king, and ace of the same suit)

In your original five-card hand, you might have been lucky enough to receive
a winning hand that matches one of the ones listed above. You might even have
one that you don’t want to mess with, meaning that you don’t need a draw round
to improve it. Most of the time, however, you’ll be going into the draw round
looking to discard some or all of the cards in your hand to have them replaced
with others from the same deck which dealt you.

This is the point in every video poker hand where your strategy will come
into play. You’ll have to decide what winning hands you might be able to make,
your chance of making them, and whether they are worth going for depending on
how much they pay. Sometimes, this decision will be pretty obvious, but it also
gets quite tricky.

For example, take a look at the following hand:

There are three different possibilities which are quickly evident in this
hand. First of all, you have a pair of threes. While not a winning hand on its
own, it can be improved into two pair, three of a kind, a full house, or even
four of a kind.

You might also notice that four of the five cards in the hand are hearts.
That means that you are just one shy of a flush. If you discard the three of
spades, you would have a 10 in 47 chance of getting that flush, since there are
10 hearts remaining out of the 47 cards still left.

One other possibility is a draw to a straight flush. This is the
highest-paying possible hand that you can make out of these five cards, and
you’re three-fifths of the way there with the three, four, and six of hearts.
But your chances of drawing just the right cards with your two opportunities are
relatively slim.

That is the kind of decision that might confront you at any time when you’re
playing video poker. Once you make the decision, you have to press the “Hold”
buttons under the cards (if any) that you want to keep. The machine will then
draw you the new cards to replace the discarded ones, the hand is over, and any
winnings will be added to your bankroll.

Step 4: Play Again or Walk Away

If you wish to keep playing and you still have credits in the machine, you
can simply repeat steps two and three as long as you wish. You can also cash out
at any time for a redemption ticket. Should you run out of credits at any point,
you’ll need to replenish your bankroll.

When playing normal video poker, you can play one hand at a time in this
manner. But Super Draw 6 video poker is a game that is played exclusively in
multiple play mode. Let’s learn how that works.

Multiple Play Video Poker

In the case of Super Draw 6 video poker, you can play three, five, or ten
hands at a time. For each of those hands, you’ll need to bet either one through
five coins for the basic game or ten coins for the extra feature.

For example, if you’re playing Super Draw 6 video poker and you want to
activate the feature, here is how much you would have to pay:

  • Three hands = 30 coins
  • Five hands = 50 coins
  • Ten hands = 100 coins

Once you make the bet, you’ll receive a single deal for however many hands
you are playing. You will decide upon your holds and discards for that hand.
Those decisions will govern all of your hands.

For example, let’s say you’re playing triple play mode without the feature.
And let’s say that you received the deal we used in the example above:

You make the decision to go for the flush, discarding the three of spades.
Here is how the draws might work out:

  • Two of Hearts, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts
  • Queen of Diamonds, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts
  • Seven of Spades, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts

On the first hand, you were able to make your flush. The second hand gave you
a pair of queens, which is also a winning hand. Unfortunately, you weren’t able
to do anything with the third hand.

On a basic Jacks or Better pay table, your payoffs for the three hands would
have been as follows:

  • Hand 1: Flush = 30 coins
  • Hand 2: Pair of queens = 5 coins
  • Hand 3: Loser = 0 coins

That means that you ended up with 35 coins on a 15-coin wager for a profit of
20 coins. You can see how playing multiple play really boosts your chances for
winnings when you get a nice deal. By contrast, a bad deal with hurt you that
much more.

Playing With the Sixth Card on the Draw

Now that you know basic video poker and multiple play, you’re ready for the
twist on Super Draw 6 video poker. When you bet ten coins for each of the hands
that you are playing, your draw will consist of six cards instead of the usual
five. The good news is that the game doesn’t really require any extra strategy.

For example, take a look at the previous hand that we used as an example
above:

You would decide on the holds and discards just as you would if you were
playing regular video poker. But the sixth card creates some interesting
opportunities that wouldn’t have occurred without the extra card.

For example, let’s say that, as above, you decided to go for the flush and
discarded the three of spades. Instead of a chance to draw the flush with a
single card, you’ll now have two chances. But you also might luck into something
else, like in this sample draw:

  • Queen of Diamonds, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Queen of Spades

With the extra card draw, you ended up with three of a kind. That’s something
that wouldn’t have been possible if you only had a single card. You could also
end up with this:

  • Three of Spades, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Six of Diamonds

In this case, you drew your way into two pair, another hand that you wouldn’t
have been able to make if you could only get the fifth card. These kinds of
surprises make that extra bet on Super Draw 6 video poker worth it.

What also might happen is that you can end up with a combination of six cards
that pay back to you. For example, imagine that you received the following on
the draw for our example hand:

  • Two of Hearts, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, King of Hearts

In this case, you have managed to make a flush with all six cards being
hearts. And that is a separate (and more lucrative) payout from a flush made
with just five cards.

Here are unique combinations of six cards that are considered specific
winning hands in Super Draw 6 video poker, along with an example of each.

  • Three pair: Six-Six-King-King-Ace-Ace
  • Six-card straight: Seven-Eight-Nine-Ten-Jack-Queen
  • Six-card flush: Three, Five, Seven, Nine, Ten, Queen of Spades
  • Two three of a kind: Four-Four-Four-Jack-Jack-Jack
  • Four of a kind and a pair: Six-Six-Six-Six-Ten-Ten
  • Six-card straight flush: Ace-Two-Three-Four-Five-Six of Diamonds
  • Six-card royal flush: Nine-Ten-Jack-Queen-King-Ace of Spades

As you’ll see when we talk about pay tables, these hands pay off quite well.
And they are part of the reason that Super Draw 6 video poker is such an
exciting variation.

One thing to note: There might be times where you end up with two different
winning combinations within your six-card hand. For instance, once more going
back to our example, imagine that you drew the following:

  • Two of Hearts, Three of Hearts, Four of Hearts, Six of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Queen of Spades

In this hand, you were able to make a five-card flush. But you also managed a
pair of queens, which is a paying hand. In instances like this, you would get
paid off for the higher-paying of the two hands, which in this case is the
flush, but not for both.

Pay Tables for Super Draw Six Video Poker

Super Draw 6 video poker is one of those games with an extra feature that
also allows you to choose between all of the major pay tables. The games that
are included are:

  • Jacks or Better
  • Bonus Poker
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe
  • Double Bonus
  • Double Double Bonus
  • Triple Double Bonus
  • Deuces Wild
  • Deuces Wild Bonus

Each of these games carries with it a pay table that is similar to what you
would get if you were playing the game on its own. It then adds payouts for the
winning hands that are only available when playing with the Super Draw 6 video
poker extra feature. These combined tables will let you know exactly how much
you can expect from every possible winning hand based on how much you bet.

The pay table is a crucial piece of information for any video poker player.
It should help you with your strategy. Combine it with the probabilities of
making the winning hands, and you’ll be able to figure out what the payback
percentage is for each game.

As an example, let’s take a look at the pay table for the
Jacks or Better version of the game. First, there are the payouts for the
five-card combinations, which you can find in the pay table below:

Ultimate X 100 Hand Draw Poker

Royal Flush25050075010004000
Straight Flush50100150200250

Full House918273645
Straight48121620
Three of a Kind3691215
Two Pairs246810
Jacks or Better12345

This is also the pay table to which you will solely refer if you only bet one
through five coins, which means that you wouldn’t have activated the Super Draw
6 video poker portion of the game. And you would also refer to it if you do
activate the feature, only you would need to look at the five-coin column to see
your payout.

Then, there are the payoffs for the extra six-card hands that we listed
above. In the case of these hands, there is no need to list any payouts for one
through five coins played, since they can only be accessed with 10 coins in the
machine for each hand of multiple play. Those payouts for Jacks or Better are:

  • Three pair: 50 coins
  • Six-card straight: 75 coins
  • Six-card flush: 145 coins
  • Two three of a kind: 200 coins
  • Four of a kind and a pair: 2,000 coins
  • Six-card straight flush: 4,000 coins
  • Six-card royal flush: 8,000 coins

As you can tell, these payoffs are quite substantial. But remember that
you’ll have to bet ten coins to get at them, for three, five, or ten hands at a
time. If you aren’t winning consistently at Super Draw 6 video poker, you could
really see your bankroll struggle to stay afloat.

Payback Percentages for Super Draw 6 Video Poker

The payback percentage for a video poker game tells you just how much you can
expect to make for each pay table on the average. A good payback percentage is
over 99%, which means that you are only suffering a 1% loss. You can atone for
the 1% loss by earning casino or website rewards for loyal play.

In the case of Super Draw 6 video poker, the big question is whether or not
the extra feature for the game is worth paying ten coins per hand to activate
it. The answer is yes. Take a look at the payback percentages for Jacks or
Better, in both the normal version and with the sixth card on the draw in play:

Jacks or Better (Normal): 99.54%

Jacks or Better (with Special Feature): 99.80%

Poker Superstars Game

That kind of difference won’t mean too much if you are playing the game for a
short session. But if you plan on making Super Draw 6 video poker your regular
video poker machine in the casino, that difference can start to add up. You have
to decide how much of a commitment you want to make the game and if you can
handle the strain on your bankroll that ten coins per hand will impose.

The difference for the other games under the Super Draw 6 video poker
umbrella is similar, all in favor of playing with the extra feature. Keep in
mind that you should always be looking for the full-pay versions of those pay
tables, especially if you are going to play the game regularly. Payback
percentages drop down considerably when you find pay tables at less than the
very top level.

Strategy for Super Draw 6 Video Poker

Whenever we talk about payback percentages, you have to realize that the only
way that you can reach the listed percentages is if you can play with perfect
strategy. That means that you are making the decision that brings the highest
expected value to the deal every time, in terms of which cards you want to hold
and which you want to discard. And that’s not something that you’ll be able to
do when you first start playing video poker without some help.

What makes it trickier in the case of Super Draw 6 video poker is that you
have so many different pay tables from which to choose. And each comes with its
own distinct strategy. You wouldn’t make the exact same decisions on a Jacks or
Better pay table as you would on, for example, a Triple Double Bonus game.

Poker Super

You might think you can get away with not learning expert strategy, and you
might be right for a while. Luck might help you out in the early stages of your
play. But as you play the game more and more, incorrect decisions will
eventually impact your expected payback percentage in a negative way.

So, how can you learn perfect strategy for Super Draw 6 video poker? First,
focus on one or two pay tables that you really like and want to play on a
regular basis. Then, use one of the following two methods that we highly
recommend:

  1. Video Poker Training Software: By using this software, you can simulate
play on whatever pay table you choose. You can then be alerted whenever one
of your holds and discards is a less than optimal play. By drilling
constantly in this fashion, you can eventually get to the point where you
are making the correct decisions every time.
  2. Strategy Charts: Strategy charts can be found for all of the top games
that are found on a Super Draw 6 video poker machine. You can memorize them
to learn all of the different combinations of cards that are possible to
receive on the deal, which are ranked from highest to lowest in expected
value. Once you have them memorized, you’ll know which cards can be
    discarded on every single deal.

Advantages/Disadvantages of Super Draw 6 Video Poker

Pros
  • The extra card on the draw gives you more chance to make winning hands

  • The extra feature actually adds to the payback percentage
Cons

Conclusion on Super Draw 6 Video Poker

Super Draw 6 video poker, whether you play it in a casino or on a top gambling website, gives you a
sixth card to create hands you never thought possible. And those six-card hands
give you more opportunities to win, but it will take a significant investment in
terms of betting to bring that sixth card into play.
